In Phoenix, Arizona, Francine Reed appeared with Miles Davis, Stanley Jordan, Smokey Robinson, Etta James, and The Crusaders. In 1985, she began recording and touring with Lyle Lovett and His Large Band. Reed has also appeared on recordings by Delbert McClinton, Willie Nelson and Roy Orbison. After she relocated to Georgia in the 1990s, she released her first solo album, I Want You to Love Me. Reed has received the W. C. Handy Artist of the Year and Song of the Year nominations. (The W. C. Handy awards were renamed the Blues Music Awards in 2006). The band has also found success in having its original songs placed in major motion pictures and T.V.The band is led by music producer/composer Andy Gonzales (vocals, bass and guitar). It also consists of the extraordinary entertainer/ singer/songwriter Freddie Duran (vocals, guitar and sax), the flamboyant personality and showmanship of Benny Banda (vocals and percussion), veteran guitar player, Paul Aldama, the fiery and exciting Barrio Latino percussion section consisting of Andrew Gonzales Jr. (congas/hand perc.) and Xavier Acosta (drums) last but not least, we round out this ensemble with the brilliant songwriting and smooth style of Ernie Nuñez Jr. (vocals and guitar). Born in Kingston, Jamaica on October 4, 1936, Big Pete Pearson landed in Phoenix, Arizona in the 1950’s by way of Austin, Texas. Over the years Big Pete has worked with legends such as Ray Charles, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Tina and Ike Turner, Big Joe Turner, Etta James, Aaron Neville and the Neville Brothers, Koko Taylor, Gate Mouth Brown, Johnny Ace, T.D. Bell, Big Mama Thornton, T-Bone Walker, Screamin’ J. Hawkins, Pinetop Perkins, Joey DeFrancesco, Buddy Guy, Janiva Magness, Erbbie Bowser, Blues Boy Hubbard, Candye Kane and an endless array of others. We3 performed their very first concert together on October 1, 2016, at the Nash in downtown Phoenix. An undeniable chemistry was recognized, and the group continued to perform sold out shows at the MIM and Phoenix Theatre along with recording their first full length CD, “We’ll Meet Again”. These ladies are a powerhouse of talents combined, featuring vocalist Renee Grant Patrick (daughter to the late George Grant of the world famous Ink Spots), violinist Suzanne Lansford, and pianist Nicole Pesce. NOLAZ Band plays groove and soul music from New Orleans, LA (NOLA) in Arizona (AZ). From The Neville Brothers to Allen Toussaint, traditional brass bands to The Meters, and Lee Dorsey to PJ Morton, there is a particular musical character that stems from New Orleans. NOLAZ Band channels this energy to bring a little NOLA to Arizona.A seven-piece ensemble, NOLAZ Band is led by Ted Belledin (keys, sax) with vocals, horns, and rhythm. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, NOLAZ Band offers upbeat performances with the option of adding a traditional brass band.
